Artificial Bird
Artificial Bird
I wanted to explore ideas of mixing subtle technology with natural forms. I used rigging and pose morphs to add more organic movement and flexibility to the exoskeleton, while the carbon fiber bones are fully rigid structural elements. The scene and animation was setup as if the viewer is discovering a lost piece of technology abandoned in a warehouse.
The exoskeleton was designed and sculpted in Blender then retopologized with Retopoflow. I did all the other 3D work, including modeling, texturing, rigging and animation in Cinema 4D. Rendered in Redshift, edited in Premier Pro. The sounds are all from freesound.com and some light editing done in Premier Pro.
I am still learning slowly how to incorporate sound into animation and even though I will never be a sound engineer or producer, I still enjoy the process and it adds life to animation, which I find necessary.
